Liberia: “Bin Laden” Arrested

Police in Monrovia have arrested and charged a man identified as ‘Osama Bin Laden’ with the crime of armed robbery for allegedly attacking a woman on Carey Street.   Defendant Bin Laden, along with three of his alleged accomplices identified by police as Christopher Elliott, alias ‘Action’, Wesley Pyne and Lusine Kromah were arrested on April 5, 2016 based upon a complaint filed against them by Madam Stephane Carey.
The victim explained to the police that the incident occurred Tuesday night while she was returning from church walking down Carey Street going toward Lynch Street.
Stephane, who claimed to have sustained a loss of US$105.00 and one hand bag, told criminal investigators that “Bin Laden” and his men were well armed with some deadly weapons, including knives, cutlasses and sticks and threatened to kill her if she refuses to surrender her belongings. She alleged further that the assailants came from behind her and assaulted her with their weapons. Meanwhile the police said from their in-depth interrogation at the crime scene established that the crime of armed robbery did occur and the defendants named were involved and according to the police charge sheet, the suspects willingly admitted to the crime and have been detained at the Monrovia Central Prison Compound, pending court trial.
