The Management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA)/James Spriggs Payne Airport in collaboration with the Liberian National Police (Salem Police Depot) on the Airfield in Monrovia will on Saturday, October 3, 2015 commence series of community awareness exercises within the vicinity of the Airport.
Seven communities have been targeted for the awareness exercises.
The communities include: Wroto Town, Zinc Camp, Daykwekon, Dead hole, Airfield Island, Spriggs field and Larkpazee West Point.
According to a release under the signature of the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Airport Francis Kpaka, the initiative is geared toward educating the residents of the seven communities on the danger associated with unlawful interference with the airport’s operations and to strengthen their participation in reporting unusual happenings around the airport.
Mr. Kpaka said, the month long awareness is in response to ongoing safety and security challenges at the Airport ranging from crossing of the active runway, construction of structures close to the perimeter fence, sand mining, flying of kites, dumping of garbage, cutting of the perimeter fence, stealing of the steel poles, illegal entry into the airport facilities and among others.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kpaka is calling on the community dwellers to fully participate in the awareness activities to ensure the safety and security of the Airport and its immediate surroundings.
