The two-leg championship playoff of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) commenced yesterday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia with LISCR FC and Nimba United playing to a zero all draw.
Liberia’s Lone Star substitute goalkeeper, Tommy Songo was the man of the match with serious of crucial saves from Nimba United.
Mustapha Raji’s LISCR FC should have closed the match in the first half, but poor finishing from their front men ended the first half in a draw.
Back from recess, AdolphusDolo’sNimba United pickup fantastic performance, but Songo stood firm as the match ended blank.
The second leg is expected to come on this Saturday at the same venue.
A win or a draw with goals will see LISCR FC clinch the championship and book a place to represent Liberia for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.
Meanwhile, in the second division playoff, Gbarnga based LFA second division outfit, Might Dragon dumped ELWA United 2-0 at the same venue to move closer to the LFA second division championship and promotion to the LFA topflight.
At the same time, LFA Knockout finalist, Monrovia Club Breweries went down 2-0 to Keitrace FC at the ATS Saturday in the first division relegation playoff, while the second division playoff involving Mighty Barrolle and Joy Conqueror could not take place due to protest issue.
