CHICO Stands Ready To Contribute

Just few days after the turning –over ceremony of a modern bridge, China Henan International Corporation Group, Ltd. (CHICO) widely known for its performance in road network and bridge building says it stands ready to positively contribute to the infrastructural development of post war Liberia.

CHICO, through its Vice President, Mr. YueZongya, expressed thanks and gratitude to the Government and People of Liberia for the level of cordial working relationship which led to the successful completion and turning over of a task which was awarded to CHICO in 2013 by the People of Liberia through the leadership of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Mr. Yue said it is a known fact that every year there is always a dedication of new projects by Her Excellency to the People of Liberia which speaks to the fact that her leadership is not only focused on socio-economic developments but also on infrastructural development of post war Liberia.

“CHICO was so excited of being a major part of a history making process since its arrival in Liberia in 2007 and with specific reference to the turning over ceremony of an internationally certified and modernized bridge.”

“Since CHICO’s years of operations in Liberia, we have started and duly completed several projects, trained numerous operators, technicians, management personnel on jobs as well as benefitted many communities and individuals in compliance with our corporate social responsibility,” Yue said.

Mr. Yue noted that the company continues to live up to the expectation of the Government of Liberia which is key in achieving the required level of service necessary to meet the aspirations of a nation in dire need of road connectivity as evidenced by CHICO’s compliance with established safety plan and known performance record.

According to the contract, the length of the new bridge is 120 meters with each of the two lanes 7.5 meters wide, while CHICO was tasked with the responsibility of maintaining the new existing structure while project work was being carried out.

The Chinese owned company on July 1, 2013, embarked on phase one of the construction exercise which entails the successful completion and designing of the bridge structure by China Zhengzhou Holysun R&B Engineering Co Ltd (Holysun).

Meanwhile, CHICO Liberia’s Vice President has disclosed that 70 kilometer Gbarnga-Ganta-Guinea Border road project entered into with the Government of Liberia on May 8, 2013 linking the central provincial city of Gbarnga via the north-eastern part of the country is almost completed but stressed that the heavy down pour of rain over the past few weeks have compelled management to wait until the dry season when the road project will be duly completed.

Program marking the signing of the contract agreement between the GOL and CHICO was held at the Sanniquellie Administrative Building in Nimba County. The contract for the construction of the road project is valued at US$ 70 Million with funds being provided by the GOL and the Liberia Reconstruction Trust Fund (LRTF) EU, Irish Aid, SIDA and NORAD.
