Liberia’s international striker, Kpah Sherman, who plies his trade with South Africa’s Absa Premiership outfit, Mpumalanga Black Aces is set to make his debut today, September 18, 2015 against Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership.
Sherman, who recently penned a three-year contract with AmaZayoni following a spell with Tanzanian side Young African Sport Club, expressed joy to play in the Absa Premiership and adds to the already formidable Mpumalanga Black Aces Squad.
He noted that his debut is long overdue and also expressed delight in obtaining his work permit to enable him showcase his talent in that part of the world.
Aces chairman Mario Morfou early noted that he is confident the Liberia’s Lone Star international will link up well with Zambian forward Collins Mbesuma this season to bring success to the team.
“He’s an excellent player and arguably one of the best players we have ever signed and yes we are relieved to finally be able to formally welcome him to AmaZayoni,” Morfou said on the club’s website.
“He will be an ideal partner upfront with Collins Mbesuma and I’m confident he will be amongst the top goal scorers in the League this season,” he said.
Born on 3 February 1992 in Monrovia, Liberia, the 1,8m striker helped Young African Sport Club, aka “Yanga ” celebrate their 24th league title last season. The 23-year-old striker scored six league goals and five assists from 16 league games for his Dares Salaam Club since he joined the club during the mid-season transfer window from Northern Cypriot top league side Centikaya Turk SK.
After helping Tanzanian Young African Sport Club win the ’14-’15 league, the powerful front man set himself a new record in Liberian football making him the only Liberian to win two top league titles in two distinct countries. He helped his former club Centikaya Turk S.K. clinch the Northern Cypriot top league back in 2012.
Kpah is just one step away from equaling the record of African legend and fellow countryman, George Oppong Manneh Weah who won three different league titles in three different countries. The former world best won the Liberian top flight with Invincible Eleven (IE) and Mighty Barrolle before winning the Italian Serie A with AC Milan and the French league 1 with Paris Saint Germain in Europe.
