Police in Monrovia have charged a 37-yaer-old man with murder and aggravated assault for allegedly killing a man identified as Alieu Wilson alais K-5, ‘Chief of Staff’ of Patco Island in Congo Town. The accused, Mangassius Toe was sent to court at the Temple of Justice on Thursday, September 17, 2015 after police investigation established that he caused the death of K-5 ‘Chief of Staff’ and allegedly inflicted serious bodily injury on Thomas Kamara, a companion of the victim.
A police charge sheet revealed that on September 8, 2015, the Crime Service Department (CSD) of the Liberia National Police (LNP) was acknowledged by the Salem police detail of an alleged homicide case in which an unconscious male body was seen lying in front of the Good Will Clinic on 21st Street in Fiamah, Sinkor.
The deceased who police later identified as ‘Chief of Staff’ of the Patco Island Community was lying on the side walk covered with a white plastic sheet and clad in blue underpants.
Police said their investigation established that ‘Chief of Staff’, who was accompanied by his companions, Thomas Kamara and Joseph Cooper were arrested at about 1:00 a.m. by members of the neighborhood watch team of Weasay Community in Fiamah on suspicion of loitering, or intent to commit burglary and armed robbery.
The investigation also established that following the arrest of the deceased along with his two accomplices, ‘Chief of Staff’ was in possession of a long orange –colored kitchen knife, while Thomas Kamara was allegedly armed with a blue handle scissors.
The police pointed out that the three persons were escorted from the Weasay Community Junction and taken to the E. Singblogh Elementary School edifice, where members of the watch team allegedly stripped them of their clothes and assaulted them.
Police observed that the victim sustained a deep wound on his right foot from a sharp object which pierced him from the instep to the sole of the foot.
