Youthful Liberia’s international and former Mighty Barrolle versatile player, Archie Harvey, who recently signed a mouthwatering deal with Swedish 1st Division Club, Motala AIF FK is set to officially make his debut for the club this Sunday, September 20, 2015 after leaving Nordvärmlands FF in the Swedish second division.
Motala AIF FK will need a win away to Piteå in a crucial encounter to climb above the relegation zone.
The club of Harvey, Motala AIF FK is currently seated at 12th spot on the 14 teams’ table with seven matches remaining.
In an interview with the master dribbler, he noted that he is keen on making his debut in the Sunday encounter in an attempt to help his team make inroads in the current campaign.
“Our current position on the table is not good, so I am keen on making a fantastic debut and maybe pull goals to help my team leave the danger zone. I have been on top of my game since arriving in Sweden and trust me, my current form is a boost to Motala AIF FK,” he noted.
The winger, who sometimes operates as a right back and supporting striker, was impressive in the second division scoring several goals and assists which attracted the attention of several clubs in Sweden with Motala AIF FK capturing the fantastic player.
Like many youngsters, Archie Harvey, alias Shaun Wright Philips, named after former Chelsea, Manchester City and England winger, came to the limelight in 2006 when he styled for Gedi and sons FC in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) first division where his virtuoso performance led to the team capturing the LFA first division the same year scoring four goals and several assists as a youthful player.
He styled for Gedi and Sons in the LFA Premiership the following year in 2007.
After another superb performance, Archie caught the eyes of one of Liberia’s traditional football clubs, Mighty Barrolle.
The lad showcased his talent for the ‘Kanyan’ pepper boys from 2008-2011, helping the team win the LFA Premium League in 2010.
He played six international club matches with Mighty Barrolle and an international friendly against Sierra Leonean topflight side East End Lions in 2010.
He can be remembered when Mighty Barrolle faced Kano Pillars of Nigeria in the Confederation of African Football (CFA) champions League in the 2010-2011 edition and Enugu Rangers and Mighty Barrolle in the WAFU competition of 2011.
Harvey served Mighty Barrolle as Vice Captain due to his commitment and wholehearted approach to the Rollers.
He moved to Monrovia FC during the 2011-2012 season of the LFA playing just twelve games in the LFA first division scoring five times with several assists before moving to Sweden in February, 2013 for greener pasture.
In Sweden, he joined Nordvarmlands FF in August, 2013 at the end of the season and played only four games because of the lateness of work permit and managed to score one goal and two assists.
The following season in the 2014 league season, Shaun, as he is called by his admirers played 24 games for Nordvarmlands FF scoring three and thirteen assist.
Archie Harvey made his debut for Liberia U-23 national team against Ivory Coast and later featured for the country against Nigeria in 2011 during the London Olympics qualifier where he played both legs.
He started all of Liberia’s matches in the 2011 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Nations Cup hosted by Nigeria where the red, white and blue outfit was crowned as bronze medal champions. He featured against the likes of Nigeria, Togo, Ghana and Niger.
He made his senior national team debut against Gambia in an international friendly on July 26, 2011 in Monrovia where Liberia won 3-2.
