The Management of the National Housing Authority will tomorrow dedicate 52 three-bedroom housing units as phase one of the Ben Town Housing Estate Construction.
During the occasion, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is expected to hand over keys to potential home buyers who have completed 20 percent down payment of the cost of each housing unit thus qualifying them to enroll into a ten year mortgage program with the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI).
When completed, the Ben Town Housing Estate will contain 125 housing units situated on 30 acres of land along the Marshall Highway, Margibi County.
The estate construction project is in fulfillment of the country’s overarching long-term development aspiration” the Agenda for Transformation” (AfT) which mandates the NHA to expand access to affordable housing for Liberians nationwide.
Following a vigorous bidding process, six Liberian construction companies, including: CUSMOS, VERTU, LINK, AMERICAN EAGLES, CJ and TRIPPLE “N”, were involved with the construction process. Over 682 direct jobs were created with youths accounting for 76% of the total workforce while over 898 beneficiaries of construction workers were also impacted economically.
