The Champion Intellectual, Social and Civic Movement (CISCIM) 2015 Bardnersville Estate Areas League kicked off last Sunday with contemporary Liberian football display.
In the opening match in kickball, Area ‘H’ thrashed Area ‘F’ 6-3 in a match that saw hundreds of fans in attendance, while defending football champions, Area ‘H’ dumped Area ‘F’ 2-0 in another fans pulling encounter.
The winner featured some of the country’s best talents in an attempt to defend the title while the league continues this Wednesday with more exciting matches at the Bardnersville Estate Sports Pitch.
Meanwhile, the indoor program saw the organizer, CISCIM raising more than L$300,000 and U$ 300.
Liberia’s Defense Minister, Brownie J. Samukai, who is the Chief Sponsor of the month long tournament presented L$100,000 plus U$300, while Michael S. Gilayeneh, another prominent resident of the Bardnersville Estate served as co-sponsor and presented L$120,000 while another sponsor, Gould presented L$30,000 plus U$50 and the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Musa Bility pledged L$50,000.
The opening day also saw two exhibition matches involving CISCIM battering officials of the participating areas, while BOSA and ABLAHO closed the day’s actions.
Idris I. Holman, chairman of the Steering Committee of CISCIM told this paper that the theme for this year’s tournament is ‘Collectively, we are stronger than Ebola’ and that his organization is hosting the tournament for the second time since 2013, noting that after the 2013 event, the 2014 edition could not be hosted due to the Ebola outbreak in Liberia.
He said the participating Areas are arranged in five groups.
