Karnga Gets New Barrolle Job

Mighty Barrolle’s President, Madam Julia Duncan Cassell has appointed former Rollers’ President, GarmondehKarnga as Technical Director in an attempt to save the club from being relegated to the lower league of the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

It can be recalled that the Mighty Barrolle, the highest carrier of the then LFA Premiership was relegated in 2011 to the second division after performing poorly in the topflight.

The club currently sits second from bottom in Group B of the LFA second division with four points from five matches.

Mr.Karnga told reporters at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County that his priority as Technical Director is to save the team from being relegated.

He noted that beginning this week a new technical staff will be brought onboard to achieve the feat.

According to him, while watching Barrolle against Monrovia Club Breweries in the LFA Knockout, he received a call from the club’s president mandating him to take over the club until the end of the season.

“I came to see Barrolle play, but I was concerned about the coach because I learned he wants to resign and later I received a call from the president and gave me an immediate appointment mandating me to take over the team as Technical Director.

“I informed her quickly that the problem of the team is indeed technical,” the former Rollers’ Boss noted.

Mr. Karnga told journalists in Kakata that he’s aware that Barrolle has three more games to end the season which are very crucial and he assured that fans that wear the red and white outfit will win all three games.

“Our anticipation is that Barrolle will leave the second division and get back to the top flight to its glorious days. I have wholehearted accepted the position and I will work hard to execute the mandate given me by the president,” Karnga noted.

It can be recalled that Mr. Karnga was very critical of the current Barrolle leadership leading the Julia Duncan Cassell-led leadership to write the LFA to stop him (Karnga) from attending Barrolle matches.

But the former LFA Executive Committee member said the leadership recently called him to a meeting and the matter has been resolved.

“Yes I was very critical of the leadership when they were not giving much support to the team. I used to talk, get on the radio and say a lot. But now, they understand what I said and they have given massive support to the team. When people give support to a team, they need result and that’s why I have accepted the position to bring that result and I will begin with a strong technical staff to take Barrolle to the first division,” he said.

When asked whether he will bring onboard the club’s most decorated coach, Erick Thompson, alias Christian Cole who is without a permanent job, the former LFA Vice presidential candidate noted that he has had meeting with the coach and if an agreement is reached, he will immediately take over the club.

“Christian Cole brought glories to all the presidents during his regime as coach including me and I feel this leadership should be no exception. I want people to understand that Erick Thompson does not coach Barrolle as a coach; he coaches the team as owner and someone who loves the team.Whether you pay him or not, he will do all in his power to bring victory to the team. He’s one of the best coaches Liberia can boast of and I will have a conversation with him,” he said.

“Mighty Barrolle will have to upset Gbarnga based Mighty Dragon in Gbarnga, Bong County on August 13, 2015 and later do same against Nimba FC on August 19 in Unification Town, Margibi County and Holder FC on August 23 at the same venue to survive relation,” he stated further.
