Speaking to Executive Mansion Correspondents at the Presidential Palace in Greenville, Sinoe County, President Sirleaf disclosed that the 2016 Independence anniversary will be held in Grand Gedeh, River Gee and Maryland Counties.
The Liberian leader urged officials of the three counties to begin their preparation immediately, adding,“ Don’t wait until June of next year before you begin preparations.
She said government will support the construction of some of the facilities in the counties in preparation for the observance of the Independence Anniversary; but also encourage citizens of the three counties to initiate individual development projects in their counties of origin.
The Liberian leader reiterated that the spirit of rotating the Independence Anniversary is not only for government to bring development to the people but to inspire the people from those counties to go back home and do something for their people.
At the same time, Rivercess County has been named as the host of the 170th Independence Anniversary in July 2017, the final year of the current administration.
Pres. Sirleaf said the Rivercess has ample time as enormous work needs to be done in order to host a successful celebration. “We want to see the counties transformed by the time we reach them,” she said.
Meanwhile, President Sirleaf has lauded the local authorities and people of Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties for the warm reception, fullest cooperation and excellent hospitality they received including the largest number of diplomatic representation to the country.
