Demolition in Ganta Affects Ecobank, Security Units

As the road construction process continues in Nimba County, several properties have been demolished including the famous Ecobank among others in the commercial City.

The Ecobank branch in Ganta was demolished few days ago by the Chico Chinese Company along with Justina Bar and Restaurant which was situated directly opposite the bank.

Since the demolition by the Chinese Earth moving Yellow Machines, workers of the bank have been busy relocating while customers remain outside of the Bank something customers see as an unfortunate situation.

Last week the First International Bank was also demolished along with several social centers in the commercial City of Ganta by the Chinese Road construction company.

Since portion of the building was demolished by the Chinese Company the Manager of the Bank had since not be seen for comment.

Since the arrival of the Chinese Company in Nimba several social Centers and homes have been destroyed while the UBA and Mosques have been marked by the Ministry of Public Works to be demolished soon.

The construction work which is being executed by a construction company, Chico affected several Security Booths along the Ganta main border with Guinea.

In a related development, the Joint security booth controlled by the Bureau of Immigration (BIN) at the main border was demolished, while the Liberia National Police Depot built by the UNMIL Bangladesh Unit was also affected during the road construction exercise.

Commenting on the effect of the construction exercise, the Joint Security chairlady, Major Betty Benson Worlo said that the BIN checkpoint which was built few years ago was destroyed along with the Police Depot at the Border.

She narrated that the security officers are currently serving guard under the sun, most especially during the day at the entrance of the bridge between Liberia and Guinea.

Maj. Betty Benson Worlo further emphasized the cordial working relationship between the two countries in terms of security.
