A hat-trick from superb AdeboyejoYetunde saw Nigeria national U-20 female squad, dubbed Falconets, dumped Liberia’s Lone Star U- 20 7-1 yesterday, Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Central Monrovia in the first leg of the FIFA U-20 world cup qualifier.
The red, white and blue outfit contained their illustrious opponent in the first 14 minutes with great ball control and some defensive works.
But AdeboyejoYetunde, who arguably won the woman of the match, opened the floodgate just 16 minutes of the encounter after a defensive blunder from the opponent to put her side in front.
Veronica Chinwendu increased the score in the 32nd minute by 2-0 before AdeboyejoYetunde wearing number 7 jersey completed a brace in the 41st minute.
Liberia’s KanitesSayee scored to put smile on the faces of Liberians to end the first half 3-1.
Back from recess, Liberia’s Jessica Koffa was red carded after second booking with the Nigerians rattling the net four more times with AdeboyejoYetunde completing the hat-trick, Chiciza Love Uchendu with a brace and a goal from Chinoso Juliet Sunday to see the Nigerians walking from the ATS with a first leg 7-1 victory against their Liberian counterparts.
The second leg is expected in two weeks’ time in Nigeria.
Liberia is expected to overturn a 7-1 deficit and win 7-0 to qualify to the next round of the competition.
The Nigerians arrived on Tuesday with a contingent of 18 players and nine officials that passed through Accra and Abidjan, before getting to Monrovia.
If Liberia overturns the 7-1 first leg defeat, the Christopher Wreh’s guided side will proceed to the third round of qualifiers to play the winner of the Namibia/DR Congo fixture.
