After much confusion surrounding the last Miss Liberia Beauty Pageant, the organizer of this year’s Pageant, the Eleven Stripes through its boss, Madam Bendu Johnson, said all is now set for the kick-off come July 4, 2015.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Madam Johnson said after several consultations and vetting, Eleven Stripes is prepared to host the event but called on every Liberian to support the process noting that the event cannot be held without collaboration and coordination.
She added that in order to avoid the recurrence of the confusion that ensued during the past aborted pageant, her organization, the Eleven Stripes has committed to ensure that the integrity of Liberia be regained and as well help bring out the hidden talents in the young women of the country.
Madam Johnson told reporters that this year’s pageant is being held under the theme: “Beautiful Mind” stressing that the event is not only about showcasing the beauties of the young ladies but it is also intended to develop the minds of the participants and ensure that the would-be queen is capable of representing the country at all levels.
According to her, the event should have been held last year (2014) but due to the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus, her organization could not have reached out to get interested young ladies to participate in the pageant but noted that the Eleven Stripes is well prepared to host the pageant this year and assured the public that what happened during the past pageant will not be repeated this time.
Eleven Stripes boss said after several interviews with interested females, there are currently fourteen young ladies who are making their ways to the kick-off but noted that there is still room for interested females who have at least a high school diploma to sign up for the pageant.
Madam Johnson further extended her thanks to the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism for its level of support to Eleven Stripes which is the organizer of this year’s Miss Liberia Beauty Pageant.
Currently, there are fourteen young women representing fourteen of the fifteen counties of Liberia.
