Chief Justice Francis S. Korkpor Sr. has lauded the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission in Liberia, Tamrat Samuel, for his bountiful role in the restoration of peace to the country. Speaking at the luncheon held in honor of the DSRSG at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia, Chief Justice Francis Korkpor Sr. hailed the outgoing diplomat as a hero, for his role in rule of law in the country.
“Our good friend, Mr. Tamrat Samuel, we come this afternoon to bid him farewell as he ends a successful tour of duty in Liberia; this is the Judiciary’s way of showing appreciation and gratitude for the many good works he has done, especially, in the area of security, justice, and the rule of law,” Chief Korkpor Sr. stated.
He further recalled the time of the DSRSG’s arrival in Liberia in February of 2013, when the Judiciary and the Ministry of Justice were involved in a National Criminal Justice Conference. According to Chief Justice Korkpor, the DSRSG wasted no time in joining them in fully participating in the Conference.
“His copious comments and those of other experts from the Rule of Law Section of UNMIL which he heads, contributed to the success of the conference,” Chief Justice Korkpor Sr. averred although, there still remain challenges in implementing a few of the resolutions from the Criminal Justice Conference, Chief Justice Korkpor Sr. hinted.
In response, the DSRSG expressed gratitude and appreciation to Chief Justice Korkpor Sr., and the Liberian Judiciary for the reception. Although, about to leave, but the DSRSG, Tamrat Samuels, promised to continue to remember the Liberian Judiciary and the Liberian people for the level of mutual encounter they had together.
He also promised to have them, (the Judiciary), at the back of his mind as long as he continues to work in the Judiciary System.
