“Friends of Sam Roberts” Swells
As approximately 2 years left for the 2017 General and Presidential Elections, many pundits are now beginning to prepare for the tedious task ahead for those elected positions that will be vacant.
Gbarpolu County specifically Electoral District #3 Representative post currently being occupied by incumbent Representative Getrude Lamine is of no exception.
It has been rumored and ascertained that several individuals from the District have already started preparation for the 2017 political battle.
One of those many would-be contenders who is a son of Kongba, Mr. Sam Zinnah Kparmor Roberts, has decided to throw in the towel and challenge the incumbent and anyone who will brave the storm to contest for the Gbarpolu District #3 seat.
Mr. Roberts spoke on Sunday, April 12 in Brewerville at a gathering where he invited citizens of Kongba to express his desire to run, come 2017 and for the subsequent establishment of the ‘Friends of Roberts’.
According to him, he is politically, financially and morally prepared to face any would-be challenger in the race for the seat.
“I’m calling on citizens from Kongba and Electoral District #3 in Gbarpolu County to join me to liberate the district from failed, greedy and selfish politicians,” he said.He added that it is not one individual who can bring development to an area, but the collective efforts of all citizens.
In their response some of the citizens in the gathering advised Mr. Roberts to visit the District and make his ambition known to the people; even though they appreciated him as a son of the District who has decided to challenge his opponents for the coming elections.
But, the future candidate quickly clarified that he has already made his ambition known to the elders when they paid a visit to Monrovia and also told the gathering that he and his team already have a planned trip to the District to formally inform the entire citizenry as he has done for Gbarma when he met some Kongba citizens who are residents in various towns and villages in Gbarma District.
He concluded by saying that every citizen of District #3, Gbarpolu County will be included in his agenda for transformation and that no citizen will be left out in the process.
