Brumskine Vows To Transform Liberia

Liberty Party former Political leader, Cllr. Charles W. Brumskine, has been outlining reason why he wants to be the President of Liberia.   Cllr. Brumskine said his main objective to govern Liberia is centered on his quest to transform the country for the betterment of the people and ensure that the country play a more meaningful role in international affairs.

Cllr. Brumskine who spoke during the weekend after being honored by the Progressive Alliance Movement of Liberia (PAML) in Monrovia said he wants to see a more democratic country where the citizens will truly hold their government accountable.

Brumskine, whose Liberty Party ticket failed to win two presidential elections in 2005 and 2011 said he wants to enhance governance at a level that Liberians can freely express their views on matters of national concern at public and legislative levels.

The Liberty Party former leader who recently announced that he was returning to politics to contest the nation’s highest status for the third time seat come 2017, acknowledged the pivotal role he played in initiating and bringing to the attention of Liberia the issue of legislative oversight and public hearing at the highest level of the National Legislature saying, “We intend to make the Liberian people at the center of the governance system.”

“When I came into public in 1997 it was a difficult time but we decided to expose our people to holding their government accountable through the public hearing at the Legislature. We intend to do more in a way that will bring total transformation to our people,” Cllr. Brumskine who served as the Liberian Senate’s President Pro-tempore in the early days of the Charles Taylor Administration said.

The lawyer turned politician lauded President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for laying the foundation for the building of the Liberian nation a task that will be passed on to future administrations.

The Liberty Party stalwart said a Liberia under his administration will be one truly based on the rule of law, accountability and transparency which are the three ingredients that can stimulate transformation.

Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of the Progressive Alliance Movement of Liberia, Mr. Mamadee Keita, lauded Cllr. Brumskine for his tireless effort aimed at bringing total transformation to the people of Liberia.

Mr. Keita who frowned on massive corruption in government praised the Liberty Party stalwart for upholding the tenets of good governance and wished him the best in his future endeavor.
