Police in Monrovia have arrested a man believed to be the main suspect in the death of Madam Suah Paye, a resident of South African Road Community, Jacob Town, Paynesville. Sekou Kabah, 37, was picked up yesterday by police in Monrovia. Police Spokesman, Sam Collins said Mr. Kabah was picked up by police in the South African Road Community and is now in police custody pending further investigation.
Mr. Collins said Kabah remains a suspect and as such all of his rights will be protected. It was recently reported that an unknown man killed his lover, Suah Paye, 53, in the Jacob Town area. Following the incident officers of the Liberia National Police launched an investigation into the killing and arrested several persons in the area for rioting and destroying police evidence.
Sam Collins told newsmen yesterday that four persons have also been arrested for taking the law into their own hands. He said following the discovery of the body of Suah Paye, some young men and women in Jacob Town in an attempt to obstruct police function, set up road blocks and nearly succeeded in destroying evidence important to the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has strongly warned the public to desist from obstructing police function or face the full weight of the law when caught. Mr. Collins said there are some individuals who are in the constant habit of obstructing police officers whenever they are carrying out their function. He said the police will not relent in dealing with such individuals legally.
