“Avoid Placing Liberia on a collision course”

Brewerville, Montserrado County – 4 February 2015: “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. 5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. 6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad”. [Psalm 14 (KJV)]

The current trend of affairs in the country is a cause for concern. This concern permeates all spheres of society i.e., social, political, religious, business, etc. Daily, a conscious surge in intrigues, lies, scheming, maneuvers, deceit, etc. against one another seems to be the order of the day in an era when all Liberians should be pulling together to rebuild and develop the country. Liberians should avoid giving the impression like “there is no God” and therefore, we can act with impunity because there will be no reckoning for our actions. God is watching! “Righteousness exalts a nation…” [Proverbs 14:34]

Liberians should be more focused on helping one another and building bridges to move the country forward. Institutionalizing lying, undermining, scheming etc. will ONLY place this country on a collision course. The country must be rebuilt on truth, fair-play, love for another, devotion to God, accountability, transparency, reconciliation, forgiveness, etc. and NOT otherwise. 2015 can be better!
