Liberty Party To Launch Interactive Program…Lawmaker Resigns From Party

The opposition Liberty Party is to shortly launch an interactive political program entitled “The Liberty Hour” in a bid to promote the vision of the party.

The program will highlight the platform and political agenda of the party and ensure that the Liberian people better understand its aspiration as the country gradually moves toward the holding of General and Presidential elections in 2017.

According to Liberty Party’s National Chairman, Cllr. Fonati Koffa, the move by the party comes at a time when the process of holding election in the country is taking another trend that is unhealthy to the democratic process.

Cllr. Koffa said processes such as the distribution of money and bringing of celebrity into politics are something which his party intends to discourage by the launch of the program.

The Liberty party Chairman disclosed that the Party’s former Standard Bearer, Cllr. Charles W. Brumskine, is expected to be the presenter at the launching of the program.

In a related development, the Liberty Party has accepted the resignation of Margibi County District Number One Representative, Roland Cooper from the party.

Cllr. Koffa said the Liberty Party has accepted the Representative’s resignation and wish him well in his political endeavor.

The Liberty Party recently requested the lawmaker to submit himself to a probe for his role in the recent fracas at the House of Representatives.

Addressing a news conference in Monrovia yesterday, Cllr. Koffa warned Liberty Party legislators and those in other high place to conduct themselves in a way and manner that will bring honor to the party and not disgrace.

He said although the party is not making any statement relative to the brawl at the House of Representatives it is a common knowledge that those in that honorable body must conduct their affairs honorably.

He said the resignation of Representative Cooper has diverted the investigation and as such the party was no longer carrying any investigation into the matter.
