Putu Iron Ore Mining- PIOM on Monday gave modern earth equipment, a preoperational Laboratory Machine to the University of Liberia Science Department.
Making the donation at the Fendell Campus of the University of Liberia, the President and CEOof Putu Iron Ore, Christian Masurenko told a cross session of University of Liberia Staff, including Putu Mining and others that Putu Mining reached the decision to donate the equipment to the University due to the impoverished condition that the University was in.
He further stated that the University of Liberia being the country’s highest learning institution, deserves much from other individuals and organizations in the country.He intimated that the University of Liberia should not have been in this condition if other companies in the country were at least supporting it.
According to him, his company’s decision to extend assistance was also predicated upon the urgent need to assist the Liberian Government in its efforts to building a firm and stronger Science Department for the Liberian students.
For his part, University of Liberia President, Dr. Emmet Dennis lauded Putu for the kind gesture and encouraged other individuals and institutions in the country to emulate the good example of Putu Mining.
The UL Boss who was shocked when he saw the modern Earth Equipment praised the Putu Mining Boss for his support to the University of Liberia Science Department.
University of Liberia’s Advisor for the Engineering Department, Francis Cooper and James Zawolo, Chairman, Mining Department also joined in lauding the Putu Mining for the donation.
The two UL officials promised to join efforts with their boss Emmet Dennis to move the Institution from where it is, to a better and much affordable environment, where all Liberian students and foreign nationals will find a better education at least to be on par with other nations in the Sub-region and Africa as a whole.
