Motorcyclists Demand Probe…Reject Police Claim That Colleague Is A “Criminal”

By Edwin G. Wandah

Few days after a motorcyclist was hit on Newport Street by a police vehicle marked R.L 3411, a group calling itself the Bestman Corner United Motorbikes Association (BCUMA) has written the Press Union of Liberia demanding probe into the saga.

According to the group’s Co-Chairman, Troken G. Gray, after the incident, several print media reported unbalanced stories.

Mr. Gray said that this is one of the many incidents involving the police and motorcyclists, where police vehicles hit motorcyclists without any redress considering them (motorcyclists) as mere criminals.

In a release from the office of the Association, Police Director AB Kromah accused members of BCUMA and other Motorcyclists of involving in several criminal activities with the recent being the hit of Z-Man as he is affectionately called.

The Group is however calling on the Liberia National Police to investigate the recent hit incidence. “We don’t want the recurrence of the June 3, 2014 saga when another motorcyclist Sekou Kamara was hit by a police vehicle on UN Drive,” Troken stated.
