As part of efforts to combat the deadly Ebola virus which has claimed the lives of several Liberians leaving many others affected by the killer virus the Young Women Christian Association of Liberia recently provided several Personal Protective Equipment for her volunteers to carry out Ebola awareness in various communities across the country.
The distribution of the equipment by the Young women Christian Association of Liberia is said to be a part of the organization’s commitment to the people of Liberia with special attention to young women and girls.
Speaking to this paper, the National General Secretary of the Young Women Christian Association of Liberia, Madam Roseline Toweh, noted that the distribution is intended to provide protection for those young people who will be getting in contact with others as they carry out their awareness.
According to Madam Toweh, the awareness which will last for about three months will initially be done in nine communities including Matadi, New Kru Town amongst other communities across the country.
She added that the Young Women Christian Association is taking different direction in its awareness with special intention being paid to women who she describes as care providers and naming them as the most vulnerable ones in contracting the virus because they are the once who care for their children and husbands at home during their time of illness.
The National secretary general of the Young Women Christian Association of Liberia asserted that at the end of the three months awareness the institution expects that young women and girls will have quality information on the prevention of the deadly Ebola virus something she said will help minimize the Ebola related death of women and girls in the country.
Madam Toweh then called on all Liberians to get involved in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus by putting aside their personal and political differences and see the situation as a national embarrassment that needs to be addressed with urgency.
The young women Christian Association of Liberia is women-orientated organization which seeks to unite all women and girls in Liberia with women and girls around the world in Christian fellowship and service with religious tolerance.
