As the Ebola virus outbreak in the country continues to create concerns among Liberians here and abroad, Professor Yaya Bruce of Devry University, Pennsylvania, United States of America over the weekend donated rice and some hygienic materials to the people of Millsburg in Montserrado County.
Presenting the items to the citizens on behalf of Professor Bruce, Attorney John S. Nyumah, disclosed that she was deeply concerned about the wellbeing of the people especially during this health crisis in Liberia. In view of the aforementioned, he indicated that the Professor donated 8 bags of 25kg rice, 4 cartons of Clorox and 4 cartons of tile soap as her own way of contributing to the Ebola fight.
He told the people that the Professor has not forgotten them. “I have my people on my mind,” she intimated. He however pointed out that Madame Bruce asked him to admonish the people to always take into consideration those pieces of advice from the health workers to avoid being infected by the virus.
Receiving the donated items, Gordon L. Cisco, Commissioner of Millsburg expressed thanks and appreciation to the donor for those items and indicated that it would buttress the fight against the pestilence which he said was raging havoc on the lives of his people. The Commissioner promised that every item received will indeed be used for the intended purpose.
For his part, Rev. Thomas Mitchell, former Principal of Millsburg Public School also lauded the efforts of Professor Bruce which he described as strategic for the battle against the Ebola virus. He said when they got the news that the Professor has sent some things for them, the citizens were filled joy. According to him, they said they will always pray for her. Rev. Mitchell however hoped that the disease will be defeated so that the earlier plan of reunion with Professor Yaya Bruce can take place in the future.
