CDC USA Differs With Chairman Solo

By Alva Mulbah Wolokolie

With just a day after the Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Mr. George Solo announced that the party was established to solely make Ambassador George Weah President of Liberia, officials of the party based in the United States have strongly disagreed with him(Solo).

This statement from the CDC-USA officials is a contradiction of Mr. Solo’s comment that CDC was formed to make Mr. Weah President.

George Solo told radio audience on the Truth FM Breakfast talk show on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 that CDC was established to purposely make Mr. Weah President and on the basis of such philosophy, he will ensure as Chairman of the party that this becomes a reality in 2017.

Mr. Solo further said that he will personally influence all his executive committee members to elect Ambassador Weah as Standard Bearer of the party because CDC was organized as a vehicle to make Weah President of Liberia. The CDC Chairman also vowed not to be dishonest to Ambassador Weah and support someone else.

But astonishingly yesterday on the same radio talk show, the Chairman of the CDC United States branch Isaac Vah Tougba, his Secretary General, Isaac Zawolo and the Policy Director, Mr. Richlieu Urey jointly differed with Chairman Solo’s pronouncement saying the CDC is not limited to Ambassador Weah’s quest to become President.

In their conference phone call from Maryland, Baltimore, USA, the CDC USA officials clarified that the party was established few years back to promulgate the voices of grassroots Liberians and to also speak against injustices rendered to the ordinary people.

They also informed the audience that CDC philosophy or ideology is to ensure that Liberians from all sectors regardless of geographical location or background have an equal share of the state’s resources and treated equally in accordance with the jurisprudence of the country.

The CDC-USA officials made the clarification when the talk show host, Mr. Mamadee Diakite asked them to comment on the latest pronouncement of their Chairman, Mr. Solo. The CDC-USA officials   who spoke one at a time indicated that although Ambassador Weah has been and is still the political leader of the CDC, the party is beyond Weah’s ambition to become President.
