All Set For LFA Elections In Buchanan
All is now set for the successful holding of the Liberia Football Associations (LFA) Elections which is slated for tomorrow March 22, 2014 in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Members and executives of the local football house will go to the poll tomorrow, Saturday, March 22, 2014 to elect its new corps of officials who will be given the mandate to run the Association for the next four years.
Positions to be contested for are: Vice President for Administration and Vice President for Operations including 10 Executive Committee seats. Several persons have been cleared by the Elections Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to contest for various positions including the 1st and 2nd Vice Presidential positions. Incumbent President Musa Bility who is going unopposed has brought some significant reforms, with more been promised in his second term.
Bility’s two vice Presidents; Musa Shannon for Administration and Adolph Lawrence for Operations are being challenged seriously as Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) President, Sekou Konneh has entered the race for the second time, while Adolph will be fiercely contested against by FC Fassell President, Cassel Kouh. LISCR FC President Mustapha Raji and Georgia FC President Wilmot Smith are amongst the many candidates contending for an Executive Committee post.
The process started in February when the Chairperson of the LFA Elections Committee, Malcolm Joseph, announced that the receipt of applications from aspirants should be submitted between February 10-21 and publication of lists of eligible voters took place between Feb.11-21.
The voting process for the post of President, Vice President for Administration and Operations, the Committee said would be one vote per Club/Association and winner will be determined by fifty percent plus one vote in each category.
For the positions of Executive Committee, the election Committee indicated that they will place the candidates in three categories, namely categories A, B, C. The memberships of the LFA will all vote for each category and the candidates with the three highest numbers of votes in each of the categories will emerge as winner in that category.
