Over LD 250,000 Cash Scandal Hits UCI …As Management Launches Investigation

Credible information gathered by this paper has it that over two hundred and fifty thousand Liberian dollars have been allegedly stolen from the Universal Commodities Incorporated (UCI), located on the Bushrod Island.

According to an inside source from the company, the amount was stolen from the account and cashier office as the Management has since launched an investigation into the matter.

Speaking to this paper on the incident, the general manager of the country’s major rice importer, Samuel Farley, said he couldn’t comment on the detail of the matter but he confirmed that indeed such scandal occurred at the company’s premises. He said the matter was being investigated by the Liberia Seaport Police (LSP) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Liberia National Police.

Other sources closed to the UCI management said the incident has deeply affected the daily operation of the company’s financial expenditure.  “This is a warning that if employees are dissatisfied they use other means to express their anger and seek satisfaction,” our source noted.
