A Non-governmental Organization, BRAC-Liberia which is providing micro-finance, small enterprise development, agriculture, livestock and poultry and health to Liberians across the country was honored yesterday by Royal Communication Incorporated, for its achievements and hard work in Liberia.
The News and Program Director of Royal Communication Incorporated, Darlington Pelenah, disclosed that BRAC Liberia deserved to be the outstanding NGO of the year because it has made significant contributions in the country.
Mr. Pelenah said BRAC Liberia was selected as outstanding NGO of the year 2013/2014 based on its achievements in the agricultural sector and providing microfinance loans to Liberians to enable them get their own businesses and contribute to national development and growth.
According to Mr.Pelenah, BRAC Liberia was chosen by three media institutions which include King’s FM 88.5, Clar Television and City FM 90.2 based on its achievements, hard work and commitment carried on in Monrovia, especially in rural Liberia which enables some inhabitants’ lives to improve.
Meanwhile, the Country Representative of BRAC Liberia, Mohammed Abdus Salam, has lauded the media institutions for the great honor bestowed on him and his staffers in Liberia.
Mr. Salam said BRAC Liberia started its operation in 2008 and implementing programs of microfinance enterprise development livestock development and health program.
“The health program is supported by our capacity development of national staffs and we have 400 employees and more than 300 Liberian staffers work with the entity and we also invest in the capacity building of the Liberian staff. Additionally, we build the capacity of local people and through that they are implementing programs,” Mr. Salam said.
