Defense Minister Adheres To President’s Mandate

The Minister of National Defense, Minister Brownie J. Samukai, Jr., last Friday suspended with immediate effect, the Comptroller of the Ministry of National Defense, Mr. James Nyumah Dorkor in line with the directive of the Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Her Excellency, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of Liberia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has accepted the decision of the President for suspending the Deputy Minister for Administration, Joseph F. Johnson, in connection with his alleged involvement in the “Fraudulent transaction on petroleum products” involving some officials of the Ministry of Finance and Donkan Gas Station.

The Ministry welcomes and wishes to clearly state that the above-mentioned will fully submit themselves to the investigation panel to be set-up by the President and will do entirely nothing that will undermine the investigation.

The Ministry reiterates its full dedication to the process of accountability and transparency in all of its transactions and will not condone anything to the contrary in the execution of its duties.
