The Germen Embassy in Liberia over the weekend awarded its only merit award, The Federal Order of Merit, to Margret Gieraths Nimene for her sacrifices in working for the less fortunate in Liberia.
Madam Nimene, herself a German has lived in Liberia for years, even marrying a Liberian, Dr. Domo Nimene.
In 1985 the Nimene’s opened a clinic in the Paynesville area, but left when the Liberian civil conflict intensified.
After the civil conflict her husband died in 1998 and she opened a clinic in Paynesville that offers free education in skills training and literacy program for children and young people.
Ms. Margret Nimene at the award program held in the conference hall of the Mamba Point Hotel gave thanks to Germany, the German Ambassador for supporting her work in Liberia.
She acknowledged the Liberian people for accepting her as a second citizen and welcoming her in her second home, Liberia.
She added that throughout her travels around the world, Africans are the most wonderful people that she has encountered.
