The Government of Liberia (GOL) through the National Investment Commission (NIC) and its development partners has announced the erection of a National Business Development and Advisory Center (NBDAC).
Speaking at the ceremony yesterday, NIC Chairman Michael S. Wotorson, said as means of ensuring a strong private sector and the rapid growth of Small and Medium Size Enterprises the Commission and its partners have decided to erect the NBDAC which will serve as a resource center for the growth of small businesses especially those that need some advice and engage in capacity building process.
The NIC Chairman said the decision to erect the center was derived at following discussions among the Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as well as Liberia’s development partners.
“The center which is expected to be built in the Liberia Industrial Park on the Somalia Drive will be managed by a Liberian firm,” Mr. Wotorson disclosed.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Watchen Bruce, Chief of Party for IESC-IBEX said the center will attempt to revolutionize business practices in Liberia as it will provide business advisory services.
Mrs. Bruce whose entity will be building the center said the objective of the NBDAC is to promote and sustain business growth, ensure that people have access to business development services and encourage enterprises procure business development services.
When asked why the center will be constructed first on the Somalia Drive, the organizers also disclosed plans to have the NBDAC braches constructed in some regional areas of the country.
The NIC Chairman specifically disclosed that the regional centers will be built in Nimba, Lofa and Sinoe Counties.
