A high level Strategy and Advisory Team (SAT) has been set up to spearhead the Presidential aspirations of Abdullai Kamara (alias KAK) at the Press Union of Liberia.
A statement from the Campaign Office named the members of the Team as Orlind Cooper of Developmental Media Inc; Zenu Miller; Tetee Gebro; Edwood Dennis, Agnes Tarr, Fombah Kanneh of the Sports Writers Association & POWER FM/TV; Anderson Chea from MICAT; Festus Poquie; Varney Kanneh; Roland Perry of The Informer Newspaper; Julu Johnson of the Focus Newspaper, Bob Woods; and Samuel Doe.
Also named to the team are: Melody Mezay of Truth FM and Paul Bordoe of the Eyes of the Globe, while George Bardue of News Newspaper heads the Propaganda Committee and Frank Sainworla, Station Manager of Radio Veritas, serves as Technical Support Coordinator.
The SAT is mandated to engage various media and journalism stakeholders in support of the candidacy and to market the diverse skills that will be utilized in implementing the rethink process. The team is also expected to professionally plan and execute activities linked to the campaign.
Abdullai Kamara, a career-long journalist and media development specialist, is contesting the presidency of the PUL so as to sustain the level of advocacy that has so far upheld the press as a crucial partner for the strengthening of democracy & development in Liberia.
The Team believes Mr. Kamara has the courage to stand up to the challenges facing the media and the capacity to forge much needed solidarity and partnership aimed at ensuring a responsible and accountable media.
In announcing his candidacy several weeks ago, Kamara described his mission as a simple reaffirmation of his beliefs that “press leadership in Liberia is as daunting today as it has always been in Liberian history” and called for a complete rethink of leadership terms and practices into a more institutional driven and exemplary leadership process.
