Jehovah’s Witnesses are planning for their annual conventions and an accompanying campaign to invite the public to attend. This year’s convention theme is “God’s Word Is Truth!” The Witnesses will hold these series of conventions in Liberia during the end of October, early November, and the end of December. The Unity Conference Center at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex will be the venue for the series of conventions to be held in Monrovia.
The convention’s theme this year is significant because it underscores a core family for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Witness families embrace the Bible as the most trustworthy and source of advice in these troubled times. And they feel that the public will likewise benefit from and enjoy the varied and practical programs.
Personal Bible study is a priority for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Each week, Witness families devote an entire evening to Bible study and research, which they call “Family Worship.” The convention this year will provide families and individuals with fresh new resources for family and personal Bible study. And this is the ‘something new’ that Witnesses anticipate receiving each year from our convention programs.
Two of the three-day events will be held simultaneously at the Unity Conference Center and Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex beginning Friday, October 25, 2013, at 8 a.m. The daily themes and titles of program parts are based on passages of Scripture, including John 8:32, Psalm 86:11, and 2 Peter 1:12. The convention theme “God’s Word Is Truth!” is based on John 17:17.
There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely through voluntary donations.
Locally, all of the 24 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses assigned to the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex will be supporting the activity of distributing printed invitations at the convention. An estimated 6,500 Witnesses will come for the Bible-based programs.
Throughout Liberia, there will be 7 conventions in 5 cities. Worldwide, there are over 7,782,346 Witnesses in more than 111,719 congregations.
