The US$582M fiscal budget that was concurred by the Liberian Senate on Thursday, September 12, 2013 after the House of Representatives approved its passage has landed on the desk of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf with some problems identified in it.
It was expected that President Sirleaf would have signed her signature or veto the passage of the budget since the completion of work by the 53rd National Legislature.
There has been no amendment made in the budget by the Senate, and as such, the country’s operational budget remains US$582,931,000 as it was decided by the House of Representatives.
But in a radio interview during the weekend, President Sirleaf disclosed that the budget before her desk for signature has some problems that need to be solved before signing into law for implementation. The Liberian leader did not explain the exact problem(s) identified in the budget but announced that she would be meeting with the leadership of the 53rd Legislature to solve those problems.
