The Women Voices Newspaper over the weekend officially launched its empowerment arm called the Women Voices Foundation.
The Women Voices Foundation was launched in order to serve as an advocacy and empowerment arm for women issues in the country.
Giving a special statement, the Executive Director of the Women Voices Foundation, Ms. Helen G. Nah noted that the purpose of the Foundation is to foster the empowerment of women and girls across the country.
She said the foundation also seeks to reduce the rate of sexual exploitation and other forms of violence perpetrated against women and girls in Liberia.
Ms. Nah also stated that the Women Voices Foundation will work to ensure that the rights of women are protected and that women in politics are also prioritized by all political parties.
For her part, the Gender Minister, Julia Duncan Cassell who served as chief launcher said women issues must be taken seriously because women have been marginalized in decision making for a very long time.
Min. Cassell however called on all men to join the struggle to empower women and girls in Liberia.
Meanwhile, Minister Cassell has pledged her Ministry’s support to the Foundation as part of its commitment to women and children’s protection and empowerment.
