Muslims Observe Eid-Al-Adha

The Imam of the Salafiya Mosque, Sheik lmam Salah Sheriff, has challenged all Muslims to love and care for their wives, children and to also consider the education of their girls-children.

He noted that every man was under obligation according to the Holy Quran to bring their family to God so that they may know Him.

Speaking yesterday during ceremonies in observance of Eid Al-Ahqa, (also referred to as Abraham Day), in Monrovia, the Islamic cleric admonished them not be angry when a girl is born in the family because according to him a girl-child brings a lot of benefits to the family.

He, however, pointed out that the character and behavior of the children are greatly dependent upon the father, who he said must faithfully execute his responsibilities to the family.

He then offered prayer for God’s blessing on President Sirleaf and all other government officials with wisdom so that they can lead the country in the right direction.

He added, “Let God protect the peace we are enjoying now”. He also prayed that God will bless members of the Muslim Council of Liberia for the growth and development of the organization.

He also thanked God for the opportunity afforded him to deliver the day’s message and also lauded the efforts of the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Liberia.

“Abraham Day,” known in Islam as Eid Al-Adya is an annual event where Muslims the world over slaughter animals as a sacrifice to God as it was done when Prophet Abraham was instructed by God to sacrifice his son but later God provided a ram for the sacrifice in order to test his faith.
