The Dr. Isaac G. Wiles Foundation, Education for Community Empowerment (DIGFECOE) has called for a proposed family meeting, to help bring Liberians together to dispel and dismiss the negative reference of a “fragile state”.
The head of DIGFECOE, Dr. Wiles, said this would ensure that the peace of 10 years is maintained and sustained above and beyond what the country now enjoys.
Dr. Wiles said the national family meeting would stabilize “our sense of security essential to our comfort and happiness and will conduct an assessment of 10 years of peace in Liberia aimed to determine the substance of the peace we have achieved and the way forward.”
He added that this would help continue the increase in peace dividends for progressive and peace can be made whole, stronger, secure, successful, and triumphant and restored to its potential again. According to him it brings to mind the old age children tales of the “Humpty Dumpty which is (Liberia) our birthright, enrichment, our magnification, fortification and our all.”
The Humpty Dumpty he said had a great fall after 142 years of existence from neglect, complacency, intolerance, conceit, vanity, narcissism among, many other things. He said all the king’s men placed Humpty Dumpty back together after 14 years of war, mayhem, chaos , anarchy, pandemonium and through numerous peace initiatives, conference from 1999 to 2003 culminating into the CPA in 2003.
Today, Dr. Wiles said Humpty Dumpty has revealed some vulnerability and is referred to as “fragile state” which he said is perhaps due to “negative poor condition, idleness or hopelessness”.
He observed that there is a crack in the Humpty Dumpty’s reinforcement system and noted that Liberia is a fragile state, and that this calls for more action than just talking about it.
