Bank Sues Metropolitan Plaza For US$99,000

Global Bank Liberia Limited has sued the General Manager and all authorized officers of the Metropolitan Plaza for US$99,000 owed it.

The issue which is on the docket for the August Term of Court for the Commercial Court at the Temple of Justice has instructions that the Acting Sheriff of the Court, Nathaniel Gildersleeves take possession of all identifiable properties and/or assets, including monies, equipment, vehicles and real estate properties of the Management of the Metropolitan Plaza Hotel Incorporated by and thru its General Manger A.N. Charifz and all authorized officers acting under its authority of the City of Monrovia.

The court’s command has prompted the Sheriff to close down the Metropolitan Plaza Hotel on Broad Street until properties amounting to US$99,000 are confiscated or the living bodies of the defendants are brought to court on August 6, 2013.

The Bank’s action also comes in the wake of several commercial banks in the country taking stance on individuals and institutions who have failed to pay back loans. The Banks have called failed loan returns a major challenge in doing business in Liberia.
