The Association of Liberian Professional Secretaries and Clerks or World Trade Center yesterday apprehended a man who allegedly tried to process a fake birth certificate.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Association, Michael Dennis, a 22-year old man named, Abednego Dennis walked into the World Trade Center and asked to have a birth certificate created.
The Trade Center PRO continued that the first booth the man tried going for help told him that they don’t do such work at the Trade Center and that the man should go to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to obtain the document.
The man then went to a different booth within the Trade Center with the hope of obtaining the document he was seeking but after several attempts he was denied by members of the Association.
The PRO said the man was led to the Administrative Office of the Center by members, where he was questioned by officials. Officials apprehended the man who due to fear wanted to escape, when others starting calling him a rogue, but the situation was quickly put under control by Trade Center Officials and the Liberia National Police was called and the man was taken into custody.
Speaking to this paper after the incident, the Association’s PRO Dennis said that on July 2, 2013 the Liberia National Police ‘ransacked’ their offices for allegedly counterfeiting national documents, the case which is still being investigated by the LNP and has some properties of the Association still under seizure.
PRO Dennis said that the Association is not in the employ of duplicating national documents and anyone who tries to do so at the World Trade Center would be doing so illegally and would face prosecution by the Ministry of Justice.
