In an effort to include young Liberians in the Country’s peace and reconciliation process, the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa has begun its peace camp outside Monrovia.
The camp is intended to bring youths from different counties together and help them understand the importance of unity.
The Camp also aimed at educating the young people on how they can all be responsible citizens.
Upon arrival at the Woki’s farm where the young people are to be for the next three days, the founder of the Gbowee Peace Foundation Madam Leymah Gbowee said it is important to start the conversation of peace with the young people in order to ensure that peace is sustained in Liberia.
She noted that the camp will also help enhance the learning process of the young people and identify some gaps that need to be worked on and also make recommendations to their parents.
Meanwhile Participants at the camp have expressed their gratitude to the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa for organizing such camp.
According to them, the camp is another way of empowering young people of Liberia and strengthening the peace the country now enjoy.
The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa is a nongovernmental organization which was created and inspired by the personal and professional experiences of Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee, a social worker, and peace activist.
The mission of the Foundation is to promote and facilitate activities and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation through the holistic participation of local communities.
