The Chairman of the National Investment Commission, the Honorable 0. Natty B. Davis visited the Monrovia Industrial Park(MIP) on Wednesday, the 19th of June 2013. The Monrovia Industrial Park which is located on Somalia Drive, Gardnerville; is a parcel of land set aside by an act of legislature for industrial related activities and it is managed by the NIC,
During his visit, Chairman Davis amongst other things toured the facilities of the K & Z Construction Company and TIBA Industrial Group; both companies holding land leases and operate from within the park. During his tour, Chairman Davis took time to get a first hand appreciation of the operating condition of the companies and whether or not they were living up to their commitment to provide employment for Liberians.
During his tour of TIBA Industrial Group, a company which was also granted investment incentives under the Consolidated Tax Amendments Act; one of the company’s senior managers, Mr. Kadir said the company had employed two hundred and forty Liberians, He also boasted that the least paid employee earned around USD 100 (One hundred United States Dollars). Mr. Kadir also appraised Chairman Davis for his company production, he averred that they currently produced eight different kinds of biscuit and were looking to increase production and hire additional personnel. Mr. Kadir further praised the employees of his company for the level of cordiality and working relationship between the management and staff of his company
Chairman Davis thanked the Management of TIBA Industrial Group for their operations and said this would encourage other investors to take advantage of the MIP. He added that the Government of Liberia will support investors willing to invest in Liberia especially when their investments lead to job creation for Liberians.
Some community dwellers within the proximity of TIBA Industrial Group, lauded the company for employing members of the community but however appealed to the Government of Liberia to engage the management of the company to provide medical benefits for those within her(TIBA) employ.
