Gov’t Gets Guilty Verdict In Sinoe’s Rape, Murder Case

The trial jurors of the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Sinoe County sitting for the May term of court has unanimously found a 21-year old man guilty of rape and murder.

The man, Isaac Jah Nimely, was arrested by police in Sinoe County for allegedly raping and killing a 12-year old girl in Nuan Point Town in Dugbeh River District of Kpayan Statutory District last month.

During the trial the state produced four witnesses with some documented evidences to convince the jurors on their case.

For his part, defendant Isaac Jah Nimely who was legally represented by a public defender told the court that he was guilty of such crime of rape and murder.  Defendant Nimely also told the court that he murdered the little girl because she promised to tell her mother of the act of rape which according to him could have brought shame to him in the town.

The raping and the murdering  of the girl in Sinoe saw women of that county staging a peaceful protest calling on government to bring the perpetrator Justice which they did promise through the county Attorney John Gabriel.

Recently the Minister of Justice, Cllr Christiana Tah urged police authority and prosecutors in a meeting to take the issue of rape seriously because it has gone beyond just a crime.

In that meeting Minister Tah solicited views from both police and prosecutors on challenges and how to get rape cases prosecuted successfully.
