The Association of Professional Land Surveyors of Liberia (APLSUL) has begun its first two days annual conference of survey and mapping in Monrovia.
The conference which brought together several land surveyors is being held under the theme Improving Ethical and Professional Land Surveying and Mapping in Liberia by 2020.
The two days conference is intended to enlighten the minds of surveyors in Liberia on the importance of surveying and mapping in the country.
Giving the overview of the Association, the National Secretary General of APLSUL, said the conference covers topics that will help bring the association’s vision for 2020 to fulfilment.
He said the Association of Professional Land Surveyors of Liberia (APLSUL) has come a long way from what was Cadastral Surveyors Association of Liberia (CASUAL) .
He said the need to rebrand became paramount in April 2013 due to some weaknesses and shortcomings of (CASUAL).
He however encouraged all land surveyors in the country to join the struggle in helping to improve the Association.
Meanwhile, participants at the conference have expressed serious excitement over the role of the Association in improving their skills as land surveyors in the country.
According to them, the conference is a means of reawakening their love for being professional surveyors and that the Association should decentralize the process by educating surveyors on the importance of surveying and mapping across the country.
The Association of Professional Land Surveyors of Liberia was formed in April of 2013 in order to solve those challenges faced by CASUAL.
