Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Center for National Documents, Records and Archives (CNDRA) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the modernization of Government of Liberia’s Archives facilities, particularly for the storage of its financial documents.
The Deputy Minister for Expenditure and Debt Management at the Ministry of Finance, Madam Angela Cassell Bush said the Ministry of Finance is charged with advancing government’s public financial management reform agenda and proper managing existing funds and raising project revenue and handling outdated public financial records.
According to Madam Bush, the Ministry of Finance has decided to team up with the Center for National Documents, Records and Archives (CNDRA, which is the statutory body responsible for managing all historical public documents and to keep the financial records of the Ministry.
Madam Bush affirmed that CNDRA has provided extensive space in its facilities to store the digitized portion of those financial documents currently housed at the Finance Ministry.
The Ministry of Finance will underwrite the cost of renovation, not only for the facilities but also for some other aspects of the CNDRA’S own modernization project.
“I want to thank the Director General of Center for National Documents, Records and Archives, P.Bloh Sayeh for her leadership in strengthening our management of historical public documents, and significant progress in that direction,” she concluded.
Also speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director General of Center for National Documents, Records and Archives P.Bloh Sayeh said it is the responsibility of CNDRA to keep records at all times.
