Nimba County Senator, Prince Y Johnson, has somersaulted by rescinding his decision to quit the National Union for Democratic Progress (NUDP) a party he founded to contest the 2011 Presidential Elections.Senator Johnson who was the third runner-up in the Presidential election, recently told journalists that he was quitting the party because there were several detractors within the party.
He further told the INQUIRER that he will be contesting the 2014 senatorial election as an independent candidate and that he was leaving the NUDP due to interference by these detractors.
However in a telephone interview with the SKY FM yesterday, Senator Johnson said he was compelled to return to the NUDP because several appeals from the people of Nimba County on ground that the party is a Nimba political party.
He vowed to deal with those detractors within the NUDP through the legal process and also promised to hold a party convention at which time new leadership for the counties will be elected.
When asked if he should be taken seriously, Senator Johnson said, “I am telling you and you have to believe me that I have returned to the NUDP.”
